Cadillac Shines
Through the darkest hours of the General Motors near-death experience… the Cadillac emblem shone as beacon for the embattled industrial giant. While sales plummeted everywhere in the industry…the resilience of Cadillac was a revelation for many who thought the sun had set on the once vaunted brand.
Fortunately before things started unraveling… Cadillac had updated and vastly improved its CTS model and offered the personal luxury performance V package with a fearsome 556 horsepower supercharged V8. As the market has rebounded Cadillac has ridden the rising tide with a measured and strategic approach. First they updated the SRX on the so-called to keep pace with the fast growing Sport Utility Crossover market segment.
The new SRX is improved from earlier time-warp scrambled station wagon appearance…and is powered by a 3.6 liter V6 with EPA ratings of 16 mpg city and 23 highway. All the Cadillac goodies and SUV attributes are in the SRX…and the luxury treatment comes off without the “old school” kitsch but with a hefty $48,000 plus price-tag.
Emboldened by the performance acclaim of the CTS… Cadillac is now fielding the smaller ATS sedan in hopes of challenging the BMW 3 Series.
