Highly Rated Acura MDX Adds Hybrid: The 2020 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid
The mid-sized luxury SUV segment has become a catwalk of super stylish brands with Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Land Rover, Lexus, Infiniti, Volvo and Maserati all fielding fashion forward, tech laden chariots of the demi-gods. And here in America Cadillac and Lincoln are now making their own bold new forays into the premium mid-sized SUV fray.
The 18 year veteran Acura MDX stays strong in this segment with a new hybrid version. The MDX boasts expansive interior space as its key advantage, backed by the substantial quality rep of its Honda DNA.
The Acura MDX shares a platform with the popular Honda Pilot, as well as many design and technical features, and comes in at the lower end of the pricing in the mid-sized luxury SUV category. But with a full load of extras the $44,000 base model easily blows past $60,000.
The new hybrid set-up of the MDX is the combination of a 257 horsepower 3.0 liter V6 and three electric motors — one for the front wheels and two in back – moving this 4,485 lb beast along at a good clip with a combined 27 city/highway mpg rating.
