Honda offers the comprehensively redesigned 2018 Honda Odyssey Minivan

Though a shadow of its former dominance in US … the minivan is a rebounding vehicle class worth six figure unit sales to major manufacturers. FCA’s Chrysler Pacifica led the way last year in the re-invention of the much-derided minivan and just last month saw a 59% sales jump for that model.

Now segment heavy hitter Honda offers the comprehensively redesigned 2018 Honda Odyssey.

This front wheel drive family hauler offers visual wow factor starting with the contoured side accents that follow through on a lightning bolt theme to the gleaming blades of the front grill and integrated backswept complex headlamps.

Though the wheelbase is the same as the previous model, the Odyssey is larger in every dimension and the spaciousness is most pronounced inside. Instead that cramped discount airlines feel of a vehicle crammed with seats, there is an open feel to the cabin space. Neat tricks like the side-sliding second row seat, the low step in easy access design, and expansive head and legroom throughout.

Capable and satisfying, especially for highway driving, the Honda 280 horsepower 3.5 liter VTEC V6 delivers 22 MPG combined mileage but lags in driving performance to the impressive new suspension and lighter stronger body construction.

The technology load of the $46,670 Honda Odyssey Elite model is impressive – including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A sure favorite for parents is the rear passenger video monitor feature.
