Lexus ES 350 Ultra… Sacrificing Nothing For Second Billing

In 1989 when Lexus was created by Toyota essentially for the USA as an up-scale division competing with European and American luxury models, enormous time and resources were devoted to the flagship LS 400 big sedan. But not wanting to launch a new division with only one model, Lexus scrambled to create a supporting model dubbed the ES or Executive Sedan.

Today the Lexus line-up includes 31 model variations and though the popularity of sedans has withered in an SUV world, the new 2020 Lexus ES 350 Ultra is in a market sweet spot. With a solid group of legacy customers and research indicating Millennial and Generation Z buyers embracing the traditional sedan format, the new $39,000 base-priced ES series has some running room.

The newest Lexus ES makes good use of its smaller profile and 1,000 lbs less weight by offering responsive handling with new lateral performance dampers, and an energetic 302 horsepower 3.5 liter V6.

Interior amenities on the ES Ultra do not disappoint with heated and cooled perforated semi-aniline leather seating, a dazzling wide 12.3 inch infotainment screen, and a rockin’ Mark Levinson premium audio system.
