Lexus GX 460 Luxury Ages Gracefully

For all the dazzling tech features, the most important little word in the car business is “NEW!”

And yet Toyota, one of the most successful car companies on earth, unabashedly fields models like its new Lexus GX 460 Luxury, that are over a decade old with cosmetic updates and tech refreshes.

Is this just “If it ain’t broke … don’t fix it” or considering the hesitant messaging about the future of EVs by top Toyota brass, could they be saying “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves”?

The case for the updated Lexus GX 460 Luxury full sized SUV is of course that size matters. This 7 person seating GX 460 is about 8 inches shorter and has 4 inches less girth that the bigger Lexus LX SUV, based on the newest Toyota Land Cruiser — not available in the US.

The good news is … even without the updated Land Cruiser advantages, the GX 460 with a 4.6 L 301 horsepower V8 is very capable on and off-road. The $65,000 GX Luxury weighs in at a brawny 5,200 lb with a towing capacity of 6,500 lb.
