New York In Overdrive

Manhattan is in over-drive as the 2013 New York International Auto Show rolls through — and the press and vip previews this past week made the most of the Big Apple backdrop. For the introduction of the completely re-designed Range Rover Sport powerhouse glam SUV.. — James Bond in the person of actor Daniel Craig took the car for a spirited “live broadcast” drive through the closed down streets of the city…delivering it a packed crowd at the dramatic Skylight event space at 33 rd and 8 th Avenue.

Up town at the posh Rose Theater at Columbus Circle — the enduring success of the Cadillac brand was celebrated with the intro of an all new version of its hot-selling CTS sedan. Even with Cadillac tending younger in recent years — the still robust baby-boomer market will like the longer, leaner, classier presence of the new CTS.

Down in Chelsea at a tony exhibit space usually displaying avant garde art or hosting super- model photo-shoots — Buick displayed new editions of the brand leading Lacrosse and Regal models. Though the overall modifications of both vehicles are discreet …they carry a full payload of updates in technology — especially the consumer demanded but still controversial info- tainment and communications connectivity.
