Toyota GR Supra 2.0… Putting The Joy in Hot To Handle

Introduced in 2019, the Toyota GR Supra has had some running room as sports cars were not a priority during the pandemic.

Today the freedom and exhilaration of sporty coupes seems just the tonic for the re-emerging world and the latest edition of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Supra GT is the perfect hot shot!

The new Supra 2.0 features a 255 horsepower twin-scroll turbo 4 cylinder, mated nicely to an 8-speed electronic paddle shift option trans, though for $15K more the Supra GR 3.0 A91MT with the 382 horsepower inline 6 cylinder engine is offered with a 6-speed manual transmission … a unicorn feature these days.

There is no denying how tough this track ready rig looks on the street. The flourishes of Japanese racing styling including the blacked out lower front and side louvers and discreet but efficient rear spoiler, are both familiar but put together in a singularly emotive package.

As the Supra uses the shared underpinnings of a BMW Z8, the design and engineering team has gone to great lengths to incorporate the Toyota identity and value for a $43 – $58K price range.
