Toyota Light Trucks and SUVs Power Up For US Demand
Toyota built its brand in the US on value and economy with nameplates like Corolla and Camry, and dominating the hybrid space with the Prius.
But to play for keeps in America, and maintain its healthy margins, Toyota has been busy in the light truck and SUV market.
Notably the Tundra full-sized pickup, Tacoma mid-sized pick-up and the long running SUV favorite 4Runner have gotten the off road racing TRD Pro badge.
The Toyota Tundra offers powerful 4-wheel drive 5.7-liter V8 hauling, towing and off-road performance, attractive pricing and incentive offers. While the new TRD Pro package offers a signature color selection, stylish blacked out 18 inch wheels, stitched leather interior, premium sound system, rear backup camera and a large center touch screen, the “1794” Texas ranch-themed model sets the platinum standard.
Meanwhile new Tacoma mid-size pickup sales are up 3.4 percent, requiring added shifts at Toyota plants in Texas and Mexico. The Tacoma sports an adventure ready persona with sharp new exterior and a powerful new 278 horsepower V6 under the hood.
Tough new looks inspire 4Runner SUV loyalty well into its third decade.
