2020 Hyundai Kona Finds Its Small Crossover SUV Groove

Small crossover SUVs have so dominated the new model runway of the auto industry in recent years that even the most expansive observers of the vehicle market are certainly thinking … “Enough already!”

And yet, the 2020 Hyundai Kona which debuted 3 years ago, and cuing up for a mid-cycle refresh for 2021, checks off all the boxes with a fresh profile and strong character features and distinctive daytime lights and headlights stacked apart, giving this small 3,000 lb vehicle some visual heft.

The interior is modern, with a tech centric bright 8” color screen and functional use of hard plastics, impressively substantial to the touch. The top trim Hyundai Kona Ultimate edition starts at $28,050 while the base SE starts at $20,300.

Powertrain options include a 1.6 L 4-cylinder 147 hp or a 2.0 L 4-cylinder 175 hp, and a highly acclaimed 258 mile range electric.

For SUV flexibility and convenience, the Kona offers 48.5 cu ft of max cargo space with the rear seats folded down and a 3 year 36,000 mile complimentary maintenance. A new Kona Limited Ultra Black edition is the cool ruler of the line-up.
