Jeep Wrangler Rolls Over, Above and Beyond Its Own Storied Legacy

Sales of Jeep Wrangler and brand trail mates are up 18% this year scaling records like scampering up extreme grade rock-slid hills. To keep up with demand FCA is opening the first new auto assembly plant in Detroit in 27 years.

The traditional Jeep adventure styling was comprehensively re-designed and engineered in 2018 for off-road duty with shorter 44” approach and 37” departure angles, while bringing back nostalgic touches.

With locking differentials and big wheels for climbing, our screaming orange Wrangler Rubicon 2-door test vehicle put the generous power and torque of a new 3.6 liter V6 285 horsepower engine at our disposal. However in lesser trims the 2 liter turbo inline 4 cylinder pumps just 15 fewer horses with a significant improvement in fuel economy.

Inside the Jeep Wrangler has evolved from its rustic tent like interior. The rugged theme is highlighted by a very civilized interior appointed with leather seating, upholstered dash and wrapped and stitched handles.

Tech is front and center with a crisp 8.4 inch display to control climate, navigation and a premium Alpine sound system. The new Jeeps range from 31,000 to $50,000 plus.
