Motorsports Stars, Sponsors Support Philly’s Urban Youth Racing School

Last Friday top national motorsports stars and execs including the President of NASCAR and bosses from several major racing teams, Cup Series Champion Kyle Larson and standout driver Chase Elliott, as well as local luminaries Larry Miller, Chairman of Nike Jordan Brand, music legend Kenny Gamble of Philadelphia International Records, broadcast pioneer Patty Jackson, and many more came out to Fairmount Park to support the Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS) Grand Prix!

Over 23 years this Philadelphia STEM program has been free to over 7,000 students with the support of sponsors like Chevrolet, Xfinity, Ally, Sunoco, Valvoline, Axalta and McDonald’s.

Along for the ride this year is aerospace innovator Blue Shift Materials partnering with Urban Youth to launch its newest product “RockeTape”, a heat management aerogel polymer that protects spacecraft on take-off and re-entry, now targeting the performance auto and the EV market.

A fascinating secondary success story of the Urban Youth program is its emergence as a national player in cause related marketing.

While targeted STEM education in motorsports offers aspiring urban students valuable career guidance, industry leading corporate sponsors recognize their sponsorships as investments in the future.
