Volvo Wagons Rise Again… In High Style with Volvo V90 Cross Country
The enduring legacy of the stalwart Volvo station wagons of the 60’s thru the 90s has been both a blessing and a curse. It has taken Volvo nearly 30 years, to break a dependable but quirky image while building a crossover line-up, rechargeable electrics and the serial North American Truck of the Year winning XC90 large SUV.
In a recent test drive its latest wagon, the $54,900 Volvo V90 Cross Country T6 AWD over-delivered in subtly superior driver and passenger comfort and convenience.
This Scandinavian luxury wagon manages to merge simplicity with luxury and style with touches of brilliance … like the complex vertical rear LED assemblies that put on a light show every time they are activated.
In addition to exciting power thanks to a turbo and super charged 2 liter 4 cylinder 316 horsepower T6, the V90 Cross Country earns the title with 8.3 inches of ground clearance, surefooted AWD, optional 20 inch wheels and an impressive 3,500 towing capacity.
In a developing story the Swedish Volvo company is crafting plans to buy out of its decade long ownership by China’s Geely Automobile Holdings.
